Christmas Laser Cut Files: Door Signs, Ornaments and Lanterns

Christmas decorating happens in layers. First the front door, so the house looks ready from the street. Then come the shelves and the windowsill, then the tree. Last of all come the small lights that make a room feel like December in the evening. A laser can make something for every one of those layers. The Christmas laser cut files below are chosen that way: from the door to the tree to the lantern on the table.

Most of these files are bundles rather than single designs. That matters if you cut for a market or for a big family. One download gives you ten ornaments, ten door hangers or five lanterns in a matching style. For each file you will find what the maker includes and the material thickness where it is given. You will also see what the finished pieces are best used for.

Short answer: for the front door, the Welcome hanger with four characters or the ten retro hangers if the whole house should match. A word on the mantel or a name on the tree calls for the Christmas alphabet. For a tree in one style, take the layered round ornaments or the four bells. The shadow box lanterns bring the light. All twelve side by side: jump to the comparison table.

On the front door

Christmas Welcome Door Hanger

A laser cut Christmas welcome door hanger with Santa, a reindeer, a penguin and a snowman above a Welcome sign, hanging on a blue front door, free laser cut SVG from svgdiy.com

Four friends lean over the top of one sign: Santa, a reindeer, a penguin and a snowman, gathered above a snowy Welcome in large lettering, with snowflakes and winter accents around them. It is a layered design, so the characters stand out from the board. The maker describes it as ideal for multi-colour and multi-material projects.

The maker lists a long range of uses: a door hanger, a porch or entryway sign, a wall sign, a mantel or tabletop piece. It also suits handmade Christmas gifts and craft fair products. The recommended material is roughly 3 to 6 mm plywood, MDF or acrylic, depending on your machine and your project. You can personalise the finished sign with a family name or a date. That makes it a very good product to sell to order. The download includes SVG, DXF, EPS, PDF, AI and DWG. The maker names Glowforge, xTool and LightBurn among compatible machines and software.

Retro Christmas Door Hangers Bundle

Ten door hangers in one bundle, all in the same warm retro style. The six in the photos show the range: a Nutcracker king with Welcome Holidays, a fox beside a tree that says Let It Snow, a gnome with Happy Winter, a penguin with a present and Have an Ice Day, a bear and a bunny with Season’s Greetings, and Mrs Claus with Merry and Bright.

This is the file to choose if you want the whole house to match: a hanger for the front door, another for the kitchen, one for a child’s bedroom and one for the fridge, as the penguin shows. Half of the greetings are about winter rather than Christmas itself, so they can stay up well into January. For a market, ten designs in one style make a display that people browse like a collection.

The bundle comes as a ZIP folder with all ten designs in SVG, DXF, EPS, PDF, JPEG and PNG. The maker notes that the photos are for inspiration.

Hello Winter Gnome Door Hanger

A cosy round sign for the cold months: a gnome holding a mug of hot cocoa, detailed snowflakes, and hello WINTER in modern lettering. The maker describes it as a 3D layered door hanger, made for front door decor, winter porch signs and holiday home decorations.

It says winter rather than Christmas, so it stays on the door after the tree has gone. It can hang there from the first frost to the end of February. The ZIP file includes SVG, AI, DWG, EPS, DXF and PDF. The maker lists it as suitable for Glowforge and other cutting machines.

Letters and words for the shelf

Christmas Alphabet

A full alphabet from A to Z, where every letter has a small Christmas motif cut into it: holly, a gift, a bell, snowflakes, a bow, fir branches and a pine cone. With one file you can spell anything, and the two photos show the two most useful ways to do it.

Stand the letters in a row and you have a word for the windowsill or the mantel: NOEL, JOY, MERRY or a family name. Add a hanging loop and each letter becomes an ornament. For example, hang the initials of everyone in the family on the tree, or make a personalised gift tag or a stocking marker. The maker describes it for laser cutting, Cricut, Glowforge, CNC, layered paper crafts and home decor. The files come in AI, EPS, SVG, DXF and PNG. They are easy to customise and suit any material thickness.

Christmas Stand Decors Bundle

Ten freestanding pieces that slot into a wooden base: lace and filigree Christmas trees, a tree made of stars, a snowflake tree, a ribbon tree, and flowing Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas lettering. They are the finishing touch for a mantel, a sideboard, a windowsill or a table centrepiece,.

Each piece stands on its own base. Therefore you can arrange the set differently on every shelf and pack it flat after the holidays. The bundle is a ZIP folder with ten designs in SVG, DXF, EPS, PDF, JPEG and PNG. The maker gives the required material width as 3 mm.

On the tree

Two Layered Ornament Bundles

Layered Christmas Ornament Bundle holds ten round ornaments built from stacked layers, so each one becomes a small 3D scene inside a frame: a snowman among the pines, Santa’s sleigh over the hills, a cosy house in the woods, reindeer, and woodland animals such as the fox, the wolf and the deer in the photos. The last pair of photos shows the same deer ornament straight off the laser and finished. It is worth seeing before you decide how far to take yours. The files come as SVG, EPS, DXF, PDF and DWG, and the maker names Glowforge, xTool, Cricut and CNC machines.

This is the bundle for a woodland or rustic tree. In addition, a set of three in a box makes a lovely Christmas gift.

Christmas Ornaments Bundle

Ten classic Christmas shapes in one bundle, drawn like iced gingerbread biscuits: a candy cane, a gingerbread man, a gingerbread house, a snowflake, a rocking horse and more. They are simple outlines with the detail engraved inside, so they are quick to cut in batches.

The second photo shows a use that is easy to miss. Hang one on each stocking as a name tag or a little gift. Then the same ornaments move from the stockings to the tree on Christmas morning. The ZIP folder contains ten designs in SVG, DXF, EPS, PDF, JPEG and PNG. The maker notes that the photos are for inspiration.

Four Layered Christmas Bells

Four layered bell ornaments decorated with bows, fir branches, snowflakes, stars and little trees, one of them carrying Merry Christmas. Bells are a traditional shape that suits both a classic and a Scandinavian tree. Four designs are enough for a matching set in a gift box. The photos show the same four bells both finished and left as natural wood. As a result, you can see how each look sits on a tree.

The bundle has four files in each format: SVG, AI, DWG, EPS, DXF and PDF. The maker lists it as compatible with Glowforge and other machines.

Christmas Animal Wooden Ornaments

Round ornaments with friendly Christmas faces: a polar bear, a reindeer, a raccoon, a hedgehog, an owl, a gingerbread man, a snowman and a penguin, each wrapped in a scarf or a hat. They are ideal for a child’s tree or a family tree where everyone picks their own animal.

The maker supplies them as vector files that you can resize without losing quality. SVG is for cutting machines and editing, EPS is a universal vector format, and DXF is for CNC and laser machines and CAD software. Please note that the maker marks these files for personal use only. Therefore they are a project for your own home and gifts rather than for a shop.

The Road to the North Pole

A compass with a snowflake at its heart, pointing the way to the North Pole. It is a quieter, more grown-up ornament than most Christmas designs. Its meaning also makes it a thoughtful gift: for a traveller, for someone moving to a new home or for a graduate setting off. It works as a keepsake for someone far away at Christmas too.

As the second photo shows, it does not have to belong only to December. The download includes an SVG cut file, printable JPG and PNG versions and an EPS. The maker notes that the artwork has been joined into as few pieces as possible. It may need some editing for your laser.

Light for December evenings

Christmas Shadow Box Lanterns

Switch on the light and a deep winter scene appears inside the box. The bundle has five layered light boxes: a winter church, deer in a forest, a cheerful gnome scene, a snowy village and a Christmas nativity. When lit from behind, the layers separate into real depth. That is what makes shadow boxes one of the most admired things a laser can make.

They are perfect as a centrepiece for a dark December evening. They also work as a handmade gift that people keep for years, or as the showpiece of a market stall. The files are drawn for 3 mm wood or plywood, and the maker describes them as easy to cut and assemble. They come as SVG, DXF, EPS, PDF and DWG, for Glowforge, xTool and OMTech. The light source is not part of the file, so choose a small battery LED that fits inside.

A Nativity Lantern with an Advent Countdown

A laser cut nativity scene lantern lit from inside, with angels on top and two wooden countdown cubes showing the days, free laser cut SVG from svgdiy.com

The Christmas story in a frame of angels and a star, lit from inside, with two wooden cubes in front that count down the days to Christmas. Turning the cubes each morning becomes a small family ritual. As a result, this piece works for the whole of December, not only on the 24th.

It comes from a large Christmas bundle: more than twenty complete sets of Christmas laser cut designs, including ornaments, layered lanterns, boxes, advent calendars, stars, snowflakes, nativity scenes and winter decorations. Each set includes layered structures and assembly-ready parts, and the maker says most models go together without glue. The files come as SVG, DXF, AI, CDR, EPS, PDF and DWG. They are designed for 3 to 4 mm material and work with Glowforge, xTool, LightBurn and other laser software. The maker suggests them for holiday markets, handmade gifts, small business production, craft workshops and family DIY projects.

Planning a Christmas house from these files

Start with the door: one welcome sign that says the house is ready, a Christmas one for December and a winter one for January.

Move to the shelves: a word from the Christmas alphabet on the windowsill and two or three standing trees on the mantel. Both pack flat and come out again next year.

Then the tree: choose one bundle for a matching look. Take the layered woodland scenes for a rustic tree, the gingerbread shapes for a kitchen or family tree, or the bells for a classic one. Finally, add the compass as the ornament with a story.

Finish with light: a shadow box lantern or the nativity countdown on the table is what people remember about a room at Christmas.

Before you cut

Where the maker gives a material thickness, it is listed above. That is 3 mm for the stand decors and the shadow box lanterns and 3 to 4 mm for the large Christmas bundle. The welcome door hanger takes 3 to 6 mm, and the Christmas alphabet suits any thickness. For the rest, check the slot sizes in the file against your sheet and cut one joint on scrap before the whole piece. Several makers say the photos are for inspiration, so the finish you see is one of many possible.

Most of these files are listed on Creative Fabrica with a commercial license, so you can sell the pieces at a Christmas market. However, the Christmas Animal Wooden Ornaments are the exception: their maker marks them for personal use only.
