Laser Cut Sheet Planner: Parts per Sheet and Resize Check

See how many parts fit on a sheet, how many sheets a batch needs and what the material will cost. Resizing a design with slots? The second tab shows what happens to the slot width.

Enter the part of the sheet your machine can reach. Spacing is the gap you leave between parts, not the kerf.

Use the width and height of one flat part, not of the assembled object. Every part is counted at this size. The starting numbers are an example.

A planning estimate, not a cutting file. Each part is counted as a rectangle. Shapes that tuck into each other may fit a few more. Grain direction, clamps, defects and test cuts can take extra space.

How is the sheet count calculated?

Parts are placed as rectangles in straight rows, and with rotation allowed both orientations are tried. Along each side the count is (usable size + spacing) ÷ (part size + spacing), rounded down. Total parts = projects × parts per project. Sheets = total parts ÷ parts per sheet, rounded up. Mixed rotations and nesting shapes into each other are not counted.

Can I use this for layered projects or earrings?

Yes, when every part has the same width and height and is cut from the same material. One pair of single-piece earrings is two parts. Layers of different sizes, different materials or grain directions need their own calculation. For a lantern, enter the size of one panel, not of the assembled lantern.

What does the cost include?

Whole sheets at the price you enter, nothing else: no machine time, labour, finishing, packaging or failed cuts. To get from material cost to a selling price, use the laser cut pricing calculator.

Will the recommended files work on my machine?

Check the file formats, sizes, material and software named by the designer before you download. Product details were checked on October 8, 2026 and can change.

Where is my plan stored?

Calculations run in your browser. “Save on this device” uses this browser’s local storage. A shared link includes your measurements in its address.
